Dear Resident,
The current situation with the main political parties has left me saddened and disappointed that they are not listening to the people they represent. Putting the word “local” in front of a national party brand doesn’t fool anyone! As a Lincolnshire Independent candidate, I am answering to YOU and speaking on YOUR behalf.
I am married with children and grandchildren. Prior to starting a family I worked for 20 years in the Employment Service. I now support my husband in running our long-established local business.
I am an active Parish Councillor for Bassingham, where I have lived for nearly 50 years. I am a Trustee of the Bassingham Village and Playing Field Charity which raises funds to enhance the lives of the residents of Bassingham and Thurlby. I worked hard on the making of the Bassingham Neighbourhood Plan to secure a better future for our communities. I feel if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well.
We should work together to maintain the countryside for future generations, and the agricultural land that feeds us should be managed thoughtfully, and not be permanently covered with inappropriate and unsustainable development. Affordable housing, together with the proper infrastructure to make it viable should be a priority.
The everyday practicalities of countryside living have largely been ignored by Government. Appropriate funding should be given for us to maintain our transport systems and local facilities as we see fit – not reduced and as directed by officials many miles away. After all, how will the powers that be obtain their five-a-day when the tractor is stuck in a pothole!
I am supported by the Lincolnshire Independents. We are determined supporters of our local communities in order that we can deal with local issues in a non-party political campaign for change. You have two votes. Please support Chris Spray and me as your Independent team.
Thank you for your support in the May 2019 election. I now serve as your District Councillor at North Kesteven District Council.
Please help me to make YOUR VIEWS heard concerning YOUR NEEDS for a BETTER FUTURE! Please vote for me on May 2nd.
Let’s take a fresh approach to make our District Council work for us instead of Westminster!
Yours sincerely,
Mary Green
